7 | 7 | | organization's 26th Annual Awards of Excellence on January 25, |

8 | 8 | | 2023; and |

9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Every year, Workforce Solutions for North Central |

10 | 10 | | Texas recognizes partners that have gone above and beyond to serve |
---|
11 | 11 | | customers in the organization's 14-county service area; the Small |
---|
12 | 12 | | Employer of the Year award highlights a private-sector employer |
---|
13 | 13 | | with fewer than 500 employees that has taken initiatives benefiting |
---|
14 | 14 | | current and future workers and individuals with challenges that |
---|
15 | 15 | | make entering the workforce difficult; and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Oil City Iron Works traces its origins back to 1866, |
---|
17 | 17 | | when the original machine shop and foundry was established in |
---|
18 | 18 | | Corsicana; the company initially produced parts for cotton gins, |
---|
19 | 19 | | brick presses, and castings for the building industry, but it has |
---|
20 | 20 | | since diversified its line of products to include valves, pumps, |
---|
21 | 21 | | gas turbine and compression parts, and mining and oilfield |
---|
22 | 22 | | equipment; the business took on its current name in 1898 in |
---|
23 | 23 | | recognition of the oil boom that was happening in Corsicana at the |
---|
24 | 24 | | time; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Through its exceptional efforts, Oil City Iron Works |
---|
26 | 26 | | has made important contributions to the vitality and prosperity of |
---|
27 | 27 | | North Central Texas, and it is indeed deserving of this most recent |
---|
28 | 28 | | honor; now, therefore, be it |
---|
29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Oil City Iron Works on being named |
---|
31 | 31 | | the Small Employer of the Year by Workforce Solutions for North |
---|
32 | 32 | | Central Texas and extend to all those associated with the company |
---|
33 | 33 | | sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
