| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Stephanie Reyes became the first woman appointed |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | city manager of the City of San Marcos on February 21, 2023; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, In February 2022, Ms. Reyes began serving as interim |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | city manager, following the retirement of her predecessor; she has |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | served the city with distinction in a number of capacities over the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | course of 22 years; named assistant city manager in 2019, she served |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | prior to that as chief of staff, assistant director of human |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | resources, and assistant to the city manager; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Reyes has worked extensively with local |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | organizations over the course of her career; a Leadership San |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Marcos graduate, she has served on the board of the organization, as |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | well as on the board of Community Action, Inc. of Central Texas; she |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | was recognized for her two decades of distinguished service by the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | International City/County Management Association and the Texas |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | City Management Association; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Born and raised in San Marcos, Ms. Reyes attended |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | San Marcos High School and went on to earn a master's degree in |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | public administration from Texas State University; she also |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | graduated from Leadership ICMA, an intensive two-year program in |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | local government management; in all her endeavors, she enjoys the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | love and support of her husband, Andrew, and she is the proud mother |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | of four children, DrewAnn, Anna, Andrés, and Gabriela; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Stephanie Reyes has greatly benefited the residents |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | of San Marcos through her skill, professionalism, and long-standing |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | commitment to the community, and it is indeed a pleasure to |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | recognize her contributions as she embarks on the next exciting |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | chapter of her career in public service; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Stephanie Reyes on her appointment |

| 34 | 34 | | as city manager of the City of San Marcos and extend to her sincere |
