 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The boys' track team from Thurgood Marshall High
 School in Missouri City once again proved itself one of the finest
 in Texas by winning the 5A championship at the 2023 University
 Interscholastic League Track & Field State Meet; and
 WHEREAS, Joining the other top high school competitors at
 Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin on May 12, the Buffs outscored their
 nearest competitors by six points to claim their second consecutive
 5A crown; and
 WHEREAS, The Marshall runners captured a pair of medals in
 the relay races; the 400-meter squad of Arveyon Davis, Devin
 Wilkerson, William Mitchell, and Kameron Williams finished with a
 time of 40.71 seconds to claim third place, while the 1,600-meter
 quartet of Mason Roseboro, Mr. Wilkerson, Mr. Williams, and Nolen
 Richie clocked in at 3 minutes, 17.11 seconds, to earn another
 bronze medal; and
 WHEREAS, In the individual events, Mr. Davis clinched a gold
 medal in the 110-meter hurdles with a blistering pace of 13.55
 seconds, and he also added to the Buffs' point total by placing
 fifth in the 300-meter hurdles; moreover, in the 400-meter sprint,
 Mr. Roseboro crossed the finish line in 49.35 seconds to earn fifth
 place; and
 WHEREAS, The Buffs were ably guided by head coach Lloyd
 Banks, who has established a winning tradition at Marshall High;
 the 2023 triumph marked the program's sixth state title in nine
 years; and
 WHEREAS, Through skill, hard work, and an enduring commitment
 to excellence, the members of the Thurgood Marshall High School
 boys' track team attained their season-long goal of repeating as
 state champions, and they may reflect with pride on a job well done;
 now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the Thurgood Marshall High School
 boys' track team on winning the 2023 UIL 5A state championship and
 extend to the athletes, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for
 continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the Buffs as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
