44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, The girls' golf players from Alamo Heights High
66 School in San Antonio distinguished themselves at the 2023
77 University Interscholastic League Golf State Tournament, with the
88 blue team winning the 5A championship and the gold team placing
99 fifth; and
1010 WHEREAS, Joining other premier golfers from throughout Texas
1111 at White Wing Golf Club in Georgetown on May 15 and 16, the Alamo
1212 Heights competitors turned in exceptional performances; finishing
1313 with a two-day total score of 605, the blue team bested the
1414 second-place squad by 12 strokes to claim the school's second state
1515 title in the past three years; and
1616 WHEREAS, Julia Vollmer led the way for the blue team, carding
1717 rounds of 74 and 72 for a 146 total and a fourth-place showing in the
1818 5A individual standings; also contributing to the triumph were
1919 Lindsey Lee, who fired rounds of 74 and 75 for a 149 total to place
2020 eighth, and Elizabeth Whalen, Charlotte Gnam, and Katherine
2121 Salisbury, who respectively came in at 155, 158, and 162; and
2222 WHEREAS, The Alamo Heights gold team also qualified for state
2323 and vied for the title with solid play over both days of the
2424 tournament; Jorie Losack paced the squad with a total of 155; she
2525 was followed in the individual standings by Chelsea Simpson, Jules
2626 Mahan, Jordan Sandoval, and Kate Kelso, and the team's overall
2727 total of 635 earned a fifth-place finish; and
2828 WHEREAS, The outstanding performances of the Alamo Heights
2929 players are the culmination of countless hours of hard work and an
3030 unwavering commitment to excellence, and these determined athletes
3131 may reflect with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it
3232 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
3333 Legislature hereby congratulate the Alamo Heights High School
3434 girls' blue team on placing first and the gold team on placing fifth
3535 at the 2023 UIL Golf State Tournament and extend to the players,
3636 coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for continued success; and,
3737 be it further
3838 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3939 prepared for the teams as an expression of high regard by the Texas
4040 House of Representatives.
