44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Destiny Montemayor has distinguished herself in her
66 responsibilities as a legislative assistant in the office of State
77 Representative Jarvis Johnson during the 88th Legislative Session;
88 and
99 WHEREAS, Ms. Montemayor joined the staff as a participant in
1010 the Texas Legislative Internship Program; during her time at the
1111 State Capitol, she has provided vital assistance in handling a wide
1212 variety of challenging tasks, including helping with constituent
1313 relations, meeting with advocacy groups and stakeholders,
1414 analyzing bills, and drafting talking points; in addition to
1515 gaining valuable experience in the field of public service, she has
1616 learned more about the legislative process and the issues facing
1717 citizens of the Lone Star State; and
1818 WHEREAS, Ms. Montemayor holds a bachelor's degree in
1919 broadcast journalism with a minor in Spanish as well as a master's
2020 degree in educational leadership and policy studies, and she is
2121 currently pursuing a juris doctor degree at the Southern University
2222 Law Center; while completing her studies, she has served as
2323 executive editor for the Journal of Race, Gender & Poverty, and she
2424 has been elected president of the university's Latino Law Student
2525 Association; she is also a member of the Student Bar Association
2626 board; and
2727 WHEREAS, During her eight-year career as an educator,
2828 Ms. Montemayor taught at middle schools in the
2929 Grapevine-Colleyville, Keller, and Birdville Independent School
3030 Districts; a former Division I track and field athlete, she later
3131 served as a coach for a wide variety of sports, and she is active in
3232 her church and community; during her leisure hours, she likes to
3333 dance, exercise, write, and spend time outdoors; and
3434 WHEREAS, Destiny Montemayor has performed her duties as a
3535 legislative assistant with skill and dedication, and she is indeed
3636 deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore,
3737 be it
3838 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
3939 Legislature hereby commend Destiny Montemayor for her service as a
4040 legislative assistant in the office of State Representative Jarvis
4141 Johnson and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success
4242 in all her endeavors; and, be it further
4343 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4444 prepared for Ms. Montemayor as an expression of high regard by the
4545 Texas House of Representatives.
