55 WHEREAS, LifeLine Shelter for Families, a charity that
66 provides assistance to families with children attending schools in
77 the Grand Prairie Independent School District, is holding its 20th
88 annual Freedom Luncheon on June 8, 2023; and
99 WHEREAS, The nonprofit organization was established in 2003
1010 by Angela Giessner, who sought to address homelessness among
1111 schoolchildren in Grand Prairie; her organization began partnering
1212 with Grand Prairie ISD to help families pay their rent, utilities,
1313 and other expenses, and to date, it has made a difference in the
1414 lives of thousands of local children; its annual Freedom Luncheon
1515 is only one of the organization's initiatives designed to raise
1616 money for families experiencing homelessness, and today it serves
1717 approximately 150 families, including some 400 children, in the
1818 area each year; and
1919 WHEREAS, For two decades, LifeLine Shelter has been extending
2020 a helping hand to Grand Prairie residents in need, and its Freedom
2121 Luncheon plays a significant role in enabling the organization to
2222 pursue its important mission; now, therefore, be it
2323 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2424 Legislature hereby honor LifeLine Shelter for Families on the
2525 occasion of its 20th annual Freedom Luncheon and extend to all those
2626 associated with the organization sincere best wishes for continued
2727 success; and, be it further
2828 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2929 prepared for LifeLine Shelter for Families as an expression of high
3030 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
