| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Houston PetSet is a nonprofit organization that has |

| 6 | 6 | | worked for two decades to improve the lives of all animals in the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Greater Houston area; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Houston PetSet seeks to end animal homelessness |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | through increased adoptions and to protect vulnerable animals |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | through programs that are focused on long-term health; the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | organization is dedicated to creating a better world where every |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | animal is valued and has a loving forever home, and it is helping to |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | foster a sense of community responsibility and mutual support in |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | achieving that worthy goal; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Animal welfare is an essential component of building |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | healthy and sustainable communities, and Houston PetSet hosts |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | adoption events with the goal of giving residents an opportunity to |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | provide permanent homes for animals in need; in addition to |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | facilitating adoptions, the organization sponsors a program to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | transport homeless animals to the Midwest, where they may have a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | better chance of being adopted; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Houston PetSet serves area pet owners by uniting the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | animal welfare community to fund education and rescue initiatives |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | as well as spay, neuter, and microchip services; the organization |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | also offers free pet boarding for domestic violence survivors who |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | are staying at local shelters; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, By serving as a lifeline to animals in need, Houston |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | PetSet has made a meaningful difference in the community, and it is |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | a pleasure to recognize this truly commendable organization; now, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | therefore, be it |

| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby honor Houston PetSet for its work to end the |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | crisis of animal homelessness and animal cruelty in the Greater |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Houston area and extend to all those associated with the |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | organization sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
