| 7 | 7 | | enjoyed remarkable success over the course of an exemplary coaching |

| 8 | 8 | | and teaching career that has spanned more than three decades; and |

| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, After starring in track at Lincoln High School in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Dallas, Beverly Humphrey received a full scholarship to Prairie |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | View A&M University; there, she was a four-time All-American and a |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | national champion in the 200 meters, earning Most Valuable and Most |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Outstanding Runner accolades on the women's track team; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Coach Humphrey began her career as the volleyball |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and girls' track coach for the Greenville Independent School |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | District, becoming the district's first African American head |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | coach; she subsequently became the first Black head coach at |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Lancaster ISD, where she currently holds the titles of chief of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | athletics and public relations and head coach of the Lancaster High |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | School girls' track team; credited with establishing the district's |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | winning culture, she has led her track teams to a UIL-record 13 |

| 22 | 22 | | state championships as well as a total of more than 60 area, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | regional, and district crowns through the years; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, In 2007, the Lancaster ISD stadium was renamed |

| 25 | 25 | | Beverly D. Humphrey Tiger Stadium; moreover, she was honored with |

| 26 | 26 | | induction into the Prairie View A&M University Sports Hall of Fame |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | with the Class of 2020-2021, and she also belongs to the Texas Black |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Sports Hall of Fame, the Texas Track and Field Coaches Association |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Hall of Fame, the Texas Girls Coaches Association Hall of Fame, and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | the Prairie View Interscholastic League Coaches Association Hall of |

| 31 | 31 | | Honor; additionally, she is a member of numerous organizations, |

| 32 | 32 | | including the Texas Girls Coaches Association, the Texas High |

| 33 | 33 | | School Athletic Directors Association, and the Texas Track and |

|---|
| 35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Beverly Humphrey has made a lasting and positive |
