| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The observance of Father's Day on June 18, 2023, |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | provides a fitting opportunity to reflect on the essence of what it |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | means to be a father; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Today, we salute the men who devote themselves to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the well-being of their sons and daughters and who, in the process, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | teach their children through their own actions, guidance, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | forgiveness, compassion, and affection; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, The first and most important decision a father makes |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | is the conscious choice to fulfill the multifaceted |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | responsibilities of his vital role in the family; he must both |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | nurture and discipline his children, provide for them, and also |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | serve as their teacher; above all, he strives to instill in his |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | children faith, enduring values, and a sure sense of right and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | wrong; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, A century ago, fathers worked at or near their |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | homes, and children passed a good deal of time in their company, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | learning by example an appreciation for the rewards of hard work and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | benefiting by their daily wisdom; currently, many parents are |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | employed some distance away from their homes, making it crucial for |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | fathers to reflect carefully on the precious hours they have to |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | devote to the upbringing of their children and on how they may best |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | help them flourish and become happy, productive citizens; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Being a father means accepting the solemn duty of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | molding and shaping the next generation, and on Father's Day, we |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | honor those who have stepped forward and taken up this challenging |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | yet rewarding responsibility; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby commemorate Father's Day 2023 and honor the |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | caring men who have dedicated their lives to building strong |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | families and a bright future for those who follow in their |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | footsteps. |
