No. 2252 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Jamesia Richardson of Katherine Johnson Technology Magnet Academy has been named the 2022-2023 Elementary Teacher of the Year in the DeSoto Independent School District; and WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to become successful and productive adults, and those men and women who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and WHEREAS, An educator with nearly a decade of experience, Ms. Richardson has been a physical education teacher at Katherine Johnson TMA for five years; she is skilled at fostering a safe, open, and supportive environment for her students, and over the course of her tenure, she has also served as the Enrichment Team lead, as a member of the Positive Behavior Intervention and Support Team, and as the chairperson of the House System and the Spring Fling Committee; prior to joining DeSoto ISD, she was a physical education teacher in Dallas ISD for four years; she holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Louisiana Monroe and certification in EC-12 Physical Education; among her many honors, she has been recognized as one of the High Flying Teacher Eagles, selected as a Dallas ISD Teacher Excellence Initiative Campus Expert, and listed in Marquis Who's Who in America; and WHEREAS, Jamesia Richardson exemplifies the passion, determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our best teachers, and she has set a standard of excellence to which all in her profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Jamesia Richardson on her selection as the 2022-2023 Elementary Teacher of the Year in the DeSoto Independent School District and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success with her important work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Richardson as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
