| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Jamesia Richardson of Katherine Johnson Technology |

| 6 | 6 | | Magnet Academy has been named the 2022-2023 Elementary Teacher of |

| 7 | 7 | | the Year in the DeSoto Independent School District; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | become successful and productive adults, and those men and women |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, An educator with nearly a decade of experience, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Ms. Richardson has been a physical education teacher at Katherine |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Johnson TMA for five years; she is skilled at fostering a safe, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | open, and supportive environment for her students, and over the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | course of her tenure, she has also served as the Enrichment Team |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | lead, as a member of the Positive Behavior Intervention and Support |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Team, and as the chairperson of the House System and the Spring |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Fling Committee; prior to joining DeSoto ISD, she was a physical |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | education teacher in Dallas ISD for four years; she holds a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | bachelor's degree from the University of Louisiana Monroe and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | certification in EC-12 Physical Education; among her many honors, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | she has been recognized as one of the High Flying Teacher Eagles, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | selected as a Dallas ISD Teacher Excellence Initiative Campus |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Expert, and listed in Marquis Who's Who in America; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Jamesia Richardson exemplifies the passion, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | best teachers, and she has set a standard of excellence to which all |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | in her profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Jamesia Richardson on her |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | selection as the 2022-2023 Elementary Teacher of the Year in the |
