| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Ryan Lovell of Tascosa High School in the Amarillo |

| 6 | 6 | | Independent School District received the Texas Speech |

| 7 | 7 | | Communication Association Teacher of the Year award on October 14, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 2022; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, This prestigious honor recognizes teachers who have |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | demonstrated excellence in educating students in speech, debate, or |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | theater, who have served in both curricular and cocurricular |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | activities, and who have made significant contributions to their |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | profession; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Ryan Lovell has taught speech and debate classes at |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Tascosa High School for 10 years, and he is the senior baccalaureate |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | advisor and University Interscholastic League academic |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | coordinator; under his leadership, numerous students have |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | qualified for state competitions, and he has been honored with a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | 2019 UIL Sponsor Excellence Award as well as the Diamond Award from |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the National Speech & Debate Association; moreover, he has been |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | named Tascosa High School Teacher of the Year, and he was a finalist |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | for Amarillo ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Highly regarded in his field, Mr. Lovell has served |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | as president of the Texas Speech Communication Association and of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | the West Texas Speech Association, and he has held leadership roles |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | in other professional organizations, including the Texas Forensic |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Association and UIL; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Lovell holds a bachelor's degree in psychology |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | from Brigham Young University, and he earned a juris doctor degree |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | from The University of Texas at Austin, as well as a master's degree |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | in teaching from West Texas A&M University; and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Ryan Lovell exemplifies the passion, determination, |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our best teachers, |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | and he has set a standard of excellence to which all in his |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it |

| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Ryan Lovell on receiving the |

| 38 | 38 | | Teacher of the Year award from the Texas Speech Communication |

| 39 | 39 | | Association and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; |
