44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, The boys' 1,600-meter relay team from Follett High
66 School achieved great distinction by winning the 1A gold medal at
77 the 2023 University Interscholastic League Track & Field State
88 Meet; and
99 WHEREAS, Joining the other top high school competitors in
1010 Texas at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin on May 13, the quartet of
1111 Jayden Watson, Julian Barton, Eugenio Chavez, and Shayne Franks
1212 turned in an exceptional performance, claiming the state title with
1313 a time of 3 minutes, 29.36 seconds; and
1414 WHEREAS, The victory was all the more special because the
1515 Panther runners were the first relay team from Follett High School
1616 to ever compete at the state meet; and
1717 WHEREAS, By excelling in the state's premier showcase for
1818 high school track and field athletes, these talented runners have
1919 ably represented their school and community, and they will cherish
2020 their memories of this outstanding accomplishment for years to
2121 come; now, therefore, be it
2222 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2323 Legislature hereby congratulate the Follett High School boys'
2424 1,600-meter relay team on winning the gold medal in the 1A event at
2525 the 2023 UIL Track & Field State Meet and extend to the athletes
2626 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
2727 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2828 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2929 House of Representatives.
