| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Buddy Schroeder is retiring as president and CEO of |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | the United Heritage Credit Union in 2023, after 43 years of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | dedicated service to the company; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Schroeder first joined the United Heritage |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Credit Union in 1980 and served as executive vice president before |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | becoming president and CEO in 1994; under his leadership, the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | credit union transitioned from federal to state charters, secured |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | an administrative building, and grew its assets from $34 million to |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | more than $1.5 billion; he also played a vital role in the formation |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | of various wholly and jointly owned subsidiaries and collaborated |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | with state and federal regulators to represent the interests of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | credit unions; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, An engaged member of his professional community, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Mr. Schroeder sponsored the United Heritage Charity Foundation, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and he was a founding member of the Credit Union Coalition of Texas, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | which he has also led as executive director; moreover, he has given |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | back to the wider community through his roles on the advisory board |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas and the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | board of directors for CASA of Travis County; in recognition of his |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | accomplishments, he received a Distinguished Service Award from the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Austin Chapter of Credit Unions; he holds a bachelor's degree in |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | business administration from The University of Texas at Austin; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Buddy Schroeder has made significant contributions |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | to advancing the mission of the United Heritage Credit Union, and he |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | may take well-deserved pride in his exceptional record of |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | achievement; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Buddy Schroeder on retiring as |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | president and CEO of the United Heritage Credit Union and extend to |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
