| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | memories of George Stidworthy Fox Jr. of Killeen, who passed away on |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | July 28, 2022, at the age of 69; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of George Stidworthy and Jean May Fox, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | George Fox was born in Alexandria, Virginia, on December 11, 1952, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and he grew up with the companionship of his brother, William; he |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | attended Forrest Avenue High School and later went on to graduate |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | from North Texas State Teachers College, which is now known as the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | University of North Texas, with a degree in business; in 1970, he |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | joined the U.S. Army and faithfully served his country for more than |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | 21 years; a veteran of the Gulf War, he retired in 1991 as a chief |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | warrant officer 3; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, In addition to his career in the military, Mr. Fox |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | was a state-certified animal cruelty investigator, working with |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | local, county, and state officials to ensure the humane treatment |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | of animals; as a staunch advocate for animal rights, he enforced |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | animal-friendly laws, educated the public on animal rights issues, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | and supported strong adoption efforts; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Fox enjoyed the love and support of his wife, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Susan, with whom he shared a rewarding marriage that spanned more |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | than five decades; he took great pride in their son, Eric, and with |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | the passing years, he had the privilege of seeing his family grow to |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | include his grandson, Cole; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, A devoted family man and a proud veteran, George |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Fox Jr. left behind a legacy that will long be treasured by all who |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | held him dear; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of George Stidworthy Fox |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Jr. and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | wife, Susan K. Fox; to his son, Eric Fox; to his daughter-in-law, |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Sara Fox; to his grandson, Cole Fox; to his brother, William Fox; |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 38 | 38 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of George Fox. |
