55 WHEREAS, Vanessa M. Urteaga of South Grand Prairie High
66 School has been named the 2022-2023 Secondary Teacher of the Year in
77 the Grand Prairie Independent School District; and
88 WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to
99 become successful and productive adults, and those men and women
1010 who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference
1111 in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and
1212 WHEREAS, A science teacher at South Grand Prairie High School
1313 with 13 years of experience in the classroom, Ms. Urteaga currently
1414 teaches advanced placement chemistry and aquatic science to juniors
1515 and seniors as well as academic chemistry and advanced academics
1616 chemistry to sophomores; she holds a bachelor's degree from Texas
1717 Wesleyan University and a master's degree from The Ohio State
1818 University; in all her endeavors, she enjoys the love and support of
1919 her husband and their sons; and
2020 WHEREAS, Vanessa Urteaga exemplifies the passion,
2121 determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our
2222 best teachers, and she has set a standard of excellence to which all
2323 in her profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2525 Legislature hereby congratulate Vanessa M. Urteaga on her selection
2626 as the 2022-2023 Secondary Teacher of the Year in the Grand Prairie
2727 Independent School District and extend to her sincere best wishes
2828 for continued success with her important work; and, be it further
2929 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3030 prepared for Ms. Urteaga as an expression of high regard by the
3131 Texas House of Representatives.
