H.R. No. 236 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Dr. Francis H. Wright Jr. is making vital contributions to the health and well-being of his fellow Texans through his efforts as the presiding officer of the Chronic Kidney Disease Task Force; and WHEREAS, Appointed by the governor in 2021, Dr. Wright leads the task force in educating health care professionals and coordinating the implementation of the state's plan for prevention, early screening, diagnosis, and management of chronic kidney disease; and WHEREAS, In the course of a career that has spanned more than four decades, Dr. Wright has performed over 3,000 transplants; he currently serves as the medical director for Transplant Care Consultants, and his previous roles include director of the Solid Organ Transplant Program, director of organ transplantation and of the Transplant Surgery Fellowship Program at the Texas Transplant Institute at Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital in San Antonio, and director of the transplant program at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville; and WHEREAS, A fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Wright takes an active role in his professional community; he has served as president of the Southeastern Organ Procurement Foundation and the American Foundation for Donation and Transplantation and on a number of committees of the United Network for Organ Sharing; he holds a medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio; and WHEREAS, Dr. Francis Wright has earned widespread admiration for his exceptional skill, professionalism, and dedication, and he is indeed deserving of recognition for his work on the Chronic Kidney Disease Task Force; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby commend Dr. Francis H. Wright Jr. for his service as the presiding officer of the Chronic Kidney Disease Task Force and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. Wright as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
