44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Dr. Francis H. Wright Jr. is making vital
66 contributions to the health and well-being of his fellow Texans
77 through his efforts as the presiding officer of the Chronic Kidney
88 Disease Task Force; and
99 WHEREAS, Appointed by the governor in 2021, Dr. Wright leads
1010 the task force in educating health care professionals and
1111 coordinating the implementation of the state's plan for prevention,
1212 early screening, diagnosis, and management of chronic kidney
1313 disease; and
1414 WHEREAS, In the course of a career that has spanned more than
1515 four decades, Dr. Wright has performed over 3,000 transplants; he
1616 currently serves as the medical director for Transplant Care
1717 Consultants, and his previous roles include director of the Solid
1818 Organ Transplant Program, director of organ transplantation and of
1919 the Transplant Surgery Fellowship Program at the Texas Transplant
2020 Institute at Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital in San
2121 Antonio, and director of the transplant program at Centennial
2222 Medical Center in Nashville; and
2323 WHEREAS, A fellow of the American College of Surgeons,
2424 Dr. Wright takes an active role in his professional community; he
2525 has served as president of the Southeastern Organ Procurement
2626 Foundation and the American Foundation for Donation and
2727 Transplantation and on a number of committees of the United Network
2828 for Organ Sharing; he holds a medical degree from The University of
2929 Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio; and
3030 WHEREAS, Dr. Francis Wright has earned widespread admiration
3131 for his exceptional skill, professionalism, and dedication, and he
3232 is indeed deserving of recognition for his work on the Chronic
3333 Kidney Disease Task Force; now, therefore, be it
3434 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
3535 Legislature hereby commend Dr. Francis H. Wright Jr. for his
3636 service as the presiding officer of the Chronic Kidney Disease Task
3737 Force and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be
3838 it further
3939 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4040 prepared for Dr. Wright as an expression of high regard by the Texas
4141 House of Representatives.
