5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Francis H. Wright Jr. is making vital |

6 | 6 | | contributions to the health and well-being of his fellow Texans |
---|
7 | 7 | | through his efforts as the presiding officer of the Chronic Kidney |
---|
8 | 8 | | Disease Task Force; and |
---|
9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Appointed by the governor in 2021, Dr. Wright leads |
---|
10 | 10 | | the task force in educating health care professionals and |
---|
11 | 11 | | coordinating the implementation of the state's plan for prevention, |
---|
12 | 12 | | early screening, diagnosis, and management of chronic kidney |
---|
13 | 13 | | disease; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, In the course of a career that has spanned more than |
---|
15 | 15 | | four decades, Dr. Wright has performed over 3,000 transplants; he |
---|
16 | 16 | | currently serves as the medical director for Transplant Care |
---|
17 | 17 | | Consultants, and his previous roles include director of the Solid |
---|
18 | 18 | | Organ Transplant Program, director of organ transplantation and of |
---|
19 | 19 | | the Transplant Surgery Fellowship Program at the Texas Transplant |
---|
20 | 20 | | Institute at Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital in San |
---|
21 | 21 | | Antonio, and director of the transplant program at Centennial |
---|
22 | 22 | | Medical Center in Nashville; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, A fellow of the American College of Surgeons, |
---|
24 | 24 | | Dr. Wright takes an active role in his professional community; he |
---|
25 | 25 | | has served as president of the Southeastern Organ Procurement |
---|
26 | 26 | | Foundation and the American Foundation for Donation and |
---|
27 | 27 | | Transplantation and on a number of committees of the United Network |
---|
28 | 28 | | for Organ Sharing; he holds a medical degree from The University of |
---|
29 | 29 | | Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Francis Wright has earned widespread admiration |
---|
31 | 31 | | for his exceptional skill, professionalism, and dedication, and he |
---|
32 | 32 | | is indeed deserving of recognition for his work on the Chronic |
---|
33 | 33 | | Kidney Disease Task Force; now, therefore, be it |
---|
34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
35 | 35 | | Legislature hereby commend Dr. Francis H. Wright Jr. for his |

36 | 36 | | service as the presiding officer of the Chronic Kidney Disease Task |

37 | 37 | | Force and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be |
