| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Lance Billeaud has served his community with |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | tremendous dedication as chief of the Groves Fire Department; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Since joining the department in 1997, Lance Billeaud |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | has impressed colleagues with his skill and leadership, which |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | resulted in him being named the city's fire chief and emergency |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | management coordinator in 2020; in those roles, he has continued to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | build a strong rapport with residents, public officials, and staff, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | and he was recently appointed by the Groves City Council to serve as |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | interim city manager; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Chief Billeaud has shared his expertise with other |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | fire safety personnel as a volunteer training officer for the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Groves FD and as a lead instructor at the Lamar Institute of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Technology Regional Fire Academy; he was named the department's |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Firefighter of the Year in 2004, and he was honored with a Special |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Recognition Award by the Sabine-Neches Chiefs Association in 2017; |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | he has served on the board of directors of the Fire Museum of Texas |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | since 2012; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, An active volunteer in his community, Chief Billeaud |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | coached in the local Little League and Little Dribblers programs |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | for several years, and he has provided color commentary for Port |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Neches-Groves High School football games for the past decade; he is |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | also a valued congregant of Immaculate Conception-St. Peter the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Apostle Catholic Parish and a dedicated member of the Knights of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Columbus; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Chief Billeaud enjoys the love |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | and support of his wife of 27 years, Tracie Billeaud; his treasured |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | family includes his three children, Marissa, Kasey, and Ryan, and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | his three grandchildren, Kambree, McKenzie, and Owen; and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Chief Lance Billeaud's hard work, professionalism, |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | and commitment to excellence have earned him the trust and |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | admiration of the citizens of Groves, and he is indeed deserving of |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | recognition for his exemplary service; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | Legislature hereby honor Fire Chief Lance Billeaud for his |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | contributions to the Groves community and extend to him sincere |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
