| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Christianna Augusta McAfee has distinguished |

| 6 | 6 | | herself in her responsibilities as a legislative aide in the office |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | of State Representative Christian Manuel during the 88th |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Legislative Session; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Ms. McAfee first joined the staff as an intern but |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | was later promoted to a full-time legislative aide; during her |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | tenure, she has provided vital assistance in handling a wide |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | variety of challenging tasks; in addition to gaining valuable |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | experience in the field of public service, she has learned more |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | about the legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Lone Star State; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Natasha McCray and Jeremy McAfee, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Sr., Ms. McAfee graduated summa cum laude from Beaumont United High |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | School as a member of the Class of 2022; she is currently a pre-law |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | student at The University of Texas at Austin, where she is pursuing |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | a bachelor's degree in communication and leadership, with a minor |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | in African and African diaspora studies; active in her campus |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | community, she has joined the UT Black Studies Department Student |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Outreach Coordinating Team and served the Black Student Alliance |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Freshman Action Team as co-chair, executive ambassador, and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | delegate; moreover, she has volunteered with the Austin Humane |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Society and taken part in a junior fellowship with the Austin |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Independent School District board of trustees; her achievements |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | also include being crowned queen of the Neches River Festival in |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Beaumont in April 2022, becoming the first African American to hold |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | that title; and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Christianna McAfee has performed her duties as a |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | legislative aide with skill and dedication, and she is indeed |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore, |

| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 36 | 36 | | Legislature hereby commend Christianna Augusta McAfee for her |

| 37 | 37 | | service as a legislative aide in the office of State Representative |

| 38 | 38 | | Christian Manuel and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
