| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Officer Paul Boon is retiring from the Flower Mound |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Police Department on June 9, 2023, drawing to a close more than two |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | decades of dedicated service to the community; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Officer Boon began his career in law enforcement as |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | a jailer for the Dallas County Sheriff's Office in 1984; he went on |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | to work for the Dalworthington Gardens Police Department in 1998, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | and after three years on the force there, he joined the Flower Mound |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Police Department on January 3, 2001; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, Officer Boon has served the agency |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | in a variety of capacities; he is the current range master and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | training coordinator for the department and is tasked with managing |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | training events in the areas of firearms, defensive tactics, and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | other crimefighting skills; he also oversees the police training |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | program and mini-academy, chairs the training advisory board, and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | serves as the training liaison for other agencies; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Officer Boon has been responsible for ensuring the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | department's compliance with state regulatory requirements, and he |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | has continuously kept abreast of tactics, equipment, industry |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | standards, and laws as they pertain to law enforcement training; he |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | holds certifications as an advanced and master peace officer, as an |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | instructor, and as a rifle, pistol, and shotgun armorer; he was |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | selected as the department's Officer of the Year in 2011; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Through his professionalism and dedication to duty, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Paul Boon has contributed immeasurably to the safety and well-being |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | of the citizens of Flower Mound, and he may indeed reflect with |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | pride on a career well spent; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Officer Paul Boon on his retirement |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | from the Flower Mound Police Department and extend to him sincere |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | best wishes for the future; and, be it further |

| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
