H.R. No. 2378
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Catherine Marie Soberon is retiring from Atascocita
High School in the Humble Independent School District on June 30,
2023, drawing to a close an outstanding career in education; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Soberon currently serves as a secondary
Spanish teacher at Atascocita High School, and prior to joining the
faculty seven years ago, she taught at Westbrook High School in
Beaumont ISD and at St. Anne Catholic School; over the course of
her 15-year career, she has taught Spanish to more than 3,000 Texas
students; and
WHEREAS, Among her many honors, Mrs. Soberon was recognized
as the 2005 Teacher of the Year at St. Anne Catholic School and as
an Atascocita Super Staffer in 2018; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Soberon fell in love with Spanish when she fell
in love with her husband, Santos; the couple have shared a rewarding
marriage that has spanned 38 years, and their family includes three
children, DeeDee, Luis, and Nino, as well as five grandchildren;
and
WHEREAS, Catherine Soberon has embodied the spirit and
commitment that are the hallmarks of our best teachers, and she may
indeed take pride in a career well spent as she embarks on the next
exciting chapter of her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Catherine Marie Soberon on her
retirement from Atascocita High School and extend to her sincere
best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mrs. Soberon as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
