| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The House of Representatives of the Texas |

| 7 | 7 | | Legislature has exclusive power to present articles of impeachment |

| 8 | 8 | | against a state officer under Section 1, Article XV, Texas |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Constitution, and Chapter 665, Government Code; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Judge Mary Brown, Judge of the 301st Judicial |

| 11 | 11 | | District, engaged in conduct constituting abuse of a child under |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Section 261.001(1), Family Code, in certain judicial actions |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | involving custody of the children of Jeff Younger; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Judge Mary Brown, Judge of the 301st Judicial |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | District, demonstrated conduct unbecoming a judge by violating the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Texas Code of Judicial Conduct; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | RESOLVED, That the Texas House of Representatives impeach |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Judge Mary Brown, Judge of the 301st Judicial District; and, be it |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | further |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | RESOLVED, That in accordance with Section 5, Article XV, |

| 21 | 21 | | Texas Constitution, Judge Mary Brown, Judge of the 301st Judicial |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | District, be suspended from the exercise of the duties of her office |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | during the pendency of her impeachment, and that the governor may |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | make a provisional appointment to fill the vacancy occasioned by |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | the suspension of Judge Brown until the conclusion of her trial by |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | the Senate on the impeachment charges; and, be it further |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature conduct an investigation under Section 1, Article XV, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Texas Constitution, and Chapter 665, Government Code, prepare |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | appropriate articles of impeachment against Judge Mary Brown, Judge |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | of the 301st Judicial District, and consider those articles for |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | presentment to the Texas Senate. |
