5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, May 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the |

6 | 6 | | Innovation Collaborative, providing a fitting opportunity to |

7 | 7 | | recognize the organization for its contributions to education |
---|
8 | 8 | | throughout the country; and |
---|
9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Established in 2013, the Innovation Collaborative |
---|
10 | 10 | | is a national transdisciplinary forum that aims to foster |
---|
11 | 11 | | creativity, innovation, and equity in teaching and learning; the |
---|
12 | 12 | | organization identifies, conducts, and disseminates research on |
---|
13 | 13 | | the ways in which effective intersections of the arts, sciences, |
---|
14 | 14 | | humanities, engineering, math, and technology can reinforce |
---|
15 | 15 | | creative thinking and lifelong learning; in addition, the |
---|
16 | 16 | | collaborative encourages networking across disciplines and |
---|
17 | 17 | | institutions in both formal and informal settings; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The Innovation Collaborative is an affiliate of the |
---|
19 | 19 | | Network for Sciences, Engineering, Arts and Design, which is an |
---|
20 | 20 | | initiative of the National Science Foundation, National Education |
---|
21 | 21 | | Association, and the National Endowment for the Humanities; since |
---|
22 | 22 | | its inception, the collaborative has developed an active Research |
---|
23 | 23 | | Thought Leaders group consisting of notable researchers in the |
---|
24 | 24 | | arts, sciences, and humanities, as well as a multi-year national |
---|
25 | 25 | | research project to identify practices that support creative and |
---|
26 | 26 | | innovative thinking in kindergarten through 12th grade; moreover, |
---|
27 | 27 | | the group has delivered presentations at a number of national |
---|
28 | 28 | | conferences and offered research-based professional STEAM |
---|
29 | 29 | | development to teachers, administrators, and schools across the |
---|
30 | 30 | | United States; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, The Innovation Collaborative benefits from the able |
---|
32 | 32 | | guidance of its founder and executive director, Lucinda Presley, |
---|
33 | 33 | | and its strategic advisor, Dr. Jonathan Katz; and |
---|
34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, True to its mission, the Innovation Collaborative |
---|
35 | 35 | | has demonstrated an admirable commitment to promoting a diverse, |
---|
36 | 36 | | equitable, and inclusive society in which students are engaged and |
---|
37 | 37 | | empowered to become the critical thinkers, innovators, and leaders |
---|
38 | 38 | | of tomorrow; now, therefore, be it |
---|
39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

40 | 40 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 10th anniversary of the |

41 | 41 | | Innovation Collaborative and extend to all those associated with |
---|
42 | 42 | | the organization sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be |
