| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Monica Pena has been named the 2023 Teacher of the |

| 6 | 6 | | Year at John F. Kennedy Elementary School in the West Oso |

|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | become successful and productive adults, and those men and women |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, A fitting recipient of this notable honor, Ms. Pena |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | has worked for West Oso ISD for four years; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Monica Pena exemplifies the passion, determination, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our best teachers, |

| 16 | 16 | | and she has set a standard of excellence to which all in her |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it |

| 18 | 18 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 19 | 19 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Monica Pena on her selection as the |
