| 6 | 6 | | Conference is taking place in Corpus Christi from June 19 through |

|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Hosted by the AGIF Beatrice T. Perez Robstown |

| 9 | 9 | | Women's Chapter, the conference benefits veterans by bringing them |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | in contact with local and state elected officials and by providing |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | opportunities to network with business leaders and to share |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | information on a range of subjects; the conference's Historic |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Grand Luncheon Celebration is honoring the members of the Nueces |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | County Commissioners Court as well as Le Roy and Rosie Torres, the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | founders of the Burn Pits 360 organization, who have been nominated |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | for the Presidential Medal of Freedom; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The American GI Forum was founded on March 26, 1948, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | by Dr. Hector Perez Garcia, who served as a U.S. Army medical doctor |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | during World War II; the largest federally chartered Hispanic |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | veterans organization in the U.S., AGIF offers support and services |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | to all military veterans and their families, and it plays a |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | prominent role in communities across the U.S. and in Puerto Rico; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | chief among its efforts, the organization addresses the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | discrimination and inequities experienced by Hispanic veterans; |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, For seven and a half decades, the members of the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | American GI Forum of Texas have worked tirelessly in behalf of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | former military service members and their loved ones, and the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | organization's contributions are indeed deserving of special |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 2023 American GI Forum of Texas |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | State Conference and extend to all those in attendance sincere best |

| 34 | 34 | | wishes for a meaningful and productive event; and, be it further |
