| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Mercedes Sotelo has excelled in her role as an |

| 6 | 6 | | intern in the office of State Representative Victoria Neave Criado |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | during the 88th Legislative Session; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Sotelo has provided |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging tasks, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | including performing legislative research and creating graphics |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | for social media; in addition to gaining valuable experience in the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | field of public service, she has learned more about the legislative |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | process and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Sotelo is a senior at Concordia University |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Texas, where she has distinguished herself by becoming the first |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | member of a minority group to serve as student body president; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | moreover, she has greatly benefited the university community by |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | establishing a food pantry program for students in need; following |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | her graduation, she plans to pursue a law degree; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Mercedes Sotelo has performed her duties as a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | legislative intern with skill and dedication, and she is indeed |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | be it |

| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby commend Mercedes Sotelo for her service as a |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | legislative intern in the office of State Representative Victoria |

| 27 | 27 | | Neave Criado and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
