| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Splendora Independent School District is making |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | a positive difference in the local community by providing area |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | youth with a solid educational foundation on which to build; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Serving approximately 4,400 students, Splendora ISD |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | seeks to foster a challenging and supportive learning environment |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | where young people are equipped to excel in every aspect of their |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | education; the district offers a variety of programs, including |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | dual language, dual credit, and early college courses, as well as an |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | array of career pathway plans; in 2020, the district was one of six |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | in the nation to be named a National Showcase District by the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Capturing Kids' Hearts training initiative; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Splendora ISD is ably guided by superintendent |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Dr. Jeffrey Burke, and it also benefits from the leadership of its |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | board of trustees, which includes president Allen Wells, vice |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | president Dan Muirhead, secretary Kim Klepcyk, assistant secretary |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Barry Welch, and members Brandon Fry, Ken Key, and Jason Sessum; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, The administrators, teachers, staff, and school |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | board of Splendora ISD have helped provide many young Texans with |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the knowledge and skills they need to become productive members of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | society, and the district is indeed deserving of special |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | recognition for its significant contributions; now, therefore, be |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | it |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby honor the Splendora Independent School District |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | for its service to area youth and extend to all those associated |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | with the district sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
