44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Sandra Rhodes is singing the national anthem at the
66 2023 Texas Fallen Heroes Ceremony at the State Capitol on May 27,
77 and this occasion provides a welcome opportunity to acknowledge her
88 and her husband, Dusty Rhodes, for their invaluable contributions
99 to music education in Texas; and
1010 WHEREAS, Passionate about using music, the arts, and
1111 higher-order thinking skills to create well-rounded students,
1212 Dusty and Sandra Rhodes have taught music to countless students
1313 across East and Southeast Texas; they have worked in the local
1414 school districts of numerous communities, including Centerville,
1515 Conroe, Pasadena, Kirbyville, Bay City, West Columbia, Sweeny, and
1616 Seguin, and they have been active in various church music
1717 ministries as well; and
1818 WHEREAS, Over the course of their careers, Mr. and
1919 Mrs. Rhodes have established a number of choir and band programs at
2020 the high school, middle school, and elementary school levels;
2121 thanks to their able guidance and inspiring influence, their
2222 students have attained many notable accomplishments over the years,
2323 such as participating in All-State Choir and Band, achieving
2424 success at state and regional solo and ensemble contests, and
2525 winning numerous sweepstakes and top awards at concert and
2626 sight-reading contests; and
2727 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Rhodes have enjoyed a rewarding
2828 marriage that has spanned more than five decades, and they are the
2929 proud parents of three children, Joshua, Daniel, and Tabitha; and
3030 WHEREAS, Through their exceptional commitment to music
3131 education, Dusty and Sandra Rhodes have made a positive difference
3232 in the lives of countless young Texans, and it is indeed a pleasure
3333 to recognize them at this time; now, therefore, be it
3434 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
3535 Legislature hereby honor Dusty and Sandra Rhodes for their years of
3636 service as music educators and extend to them sincere best wishes
3737 for continued success; and, be it further
3838 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3939 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Rhodes as an expression of high regard by
4040 the Texas House of Representatives.
