| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Sandra Rhodes is singing the national anthem at the |

| 6 | 6 | | 2023 Texas Fallen Heroes Ceremony at the State Capitol on May 27, |

| 7 | 7 | | and this occasion provides a welcome opportunity to acknowledge her |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | and her husband, Dusty Rhodes, for their invaluable contributions |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | to music education in Texas; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Passionate about using music, the arts, and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | higher-order thinking skills to create well-rounded students, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Dusty and Sandra Rhodes have taught music to countless students |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | across East and Southeast Texas; they have worked in the local |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | school districts of numerous communities, including Centerville, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Conroe, Pasadena, Kirbyville, Bay City, West Columbia, Sweeny, and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Seguin, and they have been active in various church music |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | ministries as well; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of their careers, Mr. and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Mrs. Rhodes have established a number of choir and band programs at |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the high school, middle school, and elementary school levels; |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | thanks to their able guidance and inspiring influence, their |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | students have attained many notable accomplishments over the years, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | such as participating in All-State Choir and Band, achieving |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | success at state and regional solo and ensemble contests, and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | winning numerous sweepstakes and top awards at concert and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | sight-reading contests; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Rhodes have enjoyed a rewarding |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | marriage that has spanned more than five decades, and they are the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | proud parents of three children, Joshua, Daniel, and Tabitha; and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Through their exceptional commitment to music |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | education, Dusty and Sandra Rhodes have made a positive difference |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | in the lives of countless young Texans, and it is indeed a pleasure |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | to recognize them at this time; now, therefore, be it |

| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 35 | 35 | | Legislature hereby honor Dusty and Sandra Rhodes for their years of |

| 36 | 36 | | service as music educators and extend to them sincere best wishes |
