| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Jessica Bonilla of Irving has earned great |

| 6 | 6 | | distinction by winning the 2023 Big Tex Boot Design Contest hosted |

| 7 | 7 | | by the State Fair of Texas; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, An icon of the State Fair of Texas, the Big Tex |

| 9 | 9 | | statue measures 55 feet tall and is outfitted with size 96 cowboy |

| 10 | 10 | | boots that span more than 10 feet in length and weigh some 900 |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | pounds; over the years, the massive boots have featured artwork by a |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | number of different Texas artists, and Ms. Bonilla has been |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | selected from among more than 300 entrants to update the design; she |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | will work closely with the Texas State Fair and designers from |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Lucchese Bootmaker to paint her artwork onto Big Tex; her winning |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | design depicts native plants and animals in a Texas canyon at |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | sunset; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Bonilla is a licensed social worker, and she |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | holds degrees from the University of North Texas and The University |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | of Texas at Arlington; a gifted artist, she has displayed her work |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | at pop-up markets throughout North Texas; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, With her success in the Big Tex Boot Design Contest, |

| 23 | 23 | | Jessica Bonilla has demonstrated great talent and dedication in the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | pursuit of her goals, and she may take justifiable pride in this |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | notable achievement; now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Jessica Bonilla on winning the 2023 |
