H.R. No. 2461
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, May 29, 2023, marks the 30th wedding anniversary of
the Honorable Dennise Garcia and the Reverend Eric Folkerth, and
this joyous event provides a fitting opportunity to reflect on
their rewarding journey together as husband and wife; and
WHEREAS, Lifelong Texans, Justice Garcia and Pastor Folkerth
first met at Southern Methodist University, where their friendship
grew into love; the couple were joined in matrimony at Highland Park
United Methodist Church in Dallas in 1993, and they have been
blessed with a daughter, Maria; and
WHEREAS, Justice Garcia has enjoyed an exemplary judicial
career that has spanned more than 16 years, and since 2020, she has
served on the 5th District Court of Appeals; she has also been
involved in numerous professional organizations, including the
Supreme Court of Texas family law advisory group for pandemic
issues and two State Bar of Texas committees; a longtime member of
the clergy, Pastor Folkerth currently serves as senior pastor of
Kessler Park United Methodist Church in Dallas; he has further
distinguished himself as an author, blogger, and musician; and
WHEREAS, The three decades of marriage that Dennise Garcia
and Eric Folkerth have shared is eloquent affirmation of the
meaning of love and commitment, and their enduring union is an
inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Justice Dennise Garcia and Pastor
Eric Folkerth on their 30th wedding anniversary and extend to them
sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Justice Garcia and Pastor Folkerth as an expression of
high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
