| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, May 29, 2023, marks the 30th wedding anniversary of |

| 6 | 6 | | the Honorable Dennise Garcia and the Reverend Eric Folkerth, and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | this joyous event provides a fitting opportunity to reflect on |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | their rewarding journey together as husband and wife; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Lifelong Texans, Justice Garcia and Pastor Folkerth |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | first met at Southern Methodist University, where their friendship |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | grew into love; the couple were joined in matrimony at Highland Park |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | United Methodist Church in Dallas in 1993, and they have been |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | blessed with a daughter, Maria; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Justice Garcia has enjoyed an exemplary judicial |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | career that has spanned more than 16 years, and since 2020, she has |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | served on the 5th District Court of Appeals; she has also been |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | involved in numerous professional organizations, including the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Supreme Court of Texas family law advisory group for pandemic |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | issues and two State Bar of Texas committees; a longtime member of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the clergy, Pastor Folkerth currently serves as senior pastor of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Kessler Park United Methodist Church in Dallas; he has further |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | distinguished himself as an author, blogger, and musician; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, The three decades of marriage that Dennise Garcia |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and Eric Folkerth have shared is eloquent affirmation of the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | meaning of love and commitment, and their enduring union is an |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Justice Dennise Garcia and Pastor |
