 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
 passing of Frank Edward Barker of Corpus Christi on November 19,
 2020, at the age of 82; and
 WHEREAS, The son of Frank and Eleanor Carpenter Barker, Ed
 Barker was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on September 7, 1938; he
 graduated from The Webb School, received an English degree from the
 University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and continued his education
 at the University of Cincinnati College of Law; and
 WHEREAS, After receiving his law degree in 1964, Mr. Barker
 practiced in Chattanooga; he then joined the U.S. Army as a member
 of the Judge Advocate General Corps; a recipient of the Army
 Commendation Medal, he served at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi
 in the capacity of command judge advocate, and he concluded his
 military tenure at the rank of captain; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Barker went on to embark on a legal career in
 Corpus Christi that would span more than half a century; a highly
 regarded attorney who gained national recognition, he worked for
 many years alongside Todd A. Hunter, who is currently serving in the
 Texas House of Representatives; renowned for his skill in the
 courtroom, Mr. Barker garnered the highest peer rating standard for
 attorneys from Martindale-Hubbell, and he built lasting
 relationships with his colleagues; moreover, he was engaged in his
 community, lending his support to a number of charitable
 organizations; and
 WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Mr. Barker enjoyed the love
 and support of his wife, Rene, and he took great pride in his three
 children, Courtney, Erin, and Scot, and his eight grandchildren;
 and
 WHEREAS, Ed Barker lived a life that was rich in personal and
 professional achievements, and he will forever be a source of
 inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know him; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Frank Edward Barker
 and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: to his
 wife, Rene Barker; to his brother, William "Muecke" Barker, and his
 wife, Cathy; to his children, Courtney Schultz and her husband,
 Ron, Erin Burnam and her husband, Trip, and Scot Barker and his
 wife, Ricki; to his grandchildren, Will, Anna, and Hayley Schultz,
 Cole and Thomas Burnam, and Skylar, Eleanor, and Bowman Barker; and
 to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ed Barker.
