| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of |

| 6 | 6 | | mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Michael and Joan Garcia |

| 7 | 7 | | celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on December 23, |

| 8 | 8 | | 2022; and |

| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in Michigan, Mike Garcia met native Texan Joan |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Pakan in Brownwood, where they were both employed at Brownwood |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Memorial Hospital; they were joined in matrimony in 1972, and they |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | have since been blessed with a treasured family that includes their |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | children, Amerika, Rebeka, Lia, and Michal; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Garcia enjoyed a long and rewarding career as an |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | agent with State Farm Insurance; he holds a bachelor's degree in |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | education from Howard Payne University, and he currently serves on |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | its advisory board; Mrs. Garcia graduated from Texas Woman's |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | University cum laude with a degree in nursing, and she went on to |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | teach nursing at San Antonio College and Southwest Texas Junior |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | College; over the years, the couple have traveled to Rome, Paris, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | London, Vienna, Mexico, and the Bahamas; they have also been active |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Uvalde, where Mr. Garcia |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | serves as head elder; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Garcia have enjoyed five decades of |

| 25 | 25 | | abiding love and affection for each other, and they are among an |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | commitment; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Michael and Joan Garcia on their |
