5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Eagle Pass firefighter Juan Olivares has earned |
---|
6 | 6 | | great distinction through his many years of dedicated service to |
---|
7 | 7 | | his community; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Olivares embarked on his career in 1999 as an |
---|
9 | 9 | | emergency medical technician; while working as an EMT, he took on |
---|
10 | 10 | | the role of volunteer firefighter with the Eagle Pass Fire |
---|
11 | 11 | | Department; he subsequently received certification after |
---|
12 | 12 | | completing the regional fire academy at Southwest Texas Junior |
---|
13 | 13 | | College in Uvalde; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, In November 2002, Mr. Olivares was hired as a |
---|
15 | 15 | | full-time firefighter for the City of Eagle Pass; he was honored as |
---|
16 | 16 | | the 2008 Firefighter of the Year, and in 2014, he was promoted to |
---|
17 | 17 | | lieutenant; during the COVID-19 pandemic, he volunteered with the |
---|
18 | 18 | | Emergency Operations Center, where he helped residents receive |
---|
19 | 19 | | vaccinations; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Through the years, Mr. Olivares has accumulated |
---|
21 | 21 | | more than 3,000 training and certification hours; in 2021, he |
---|
22 | 22 | | became an intermediate firefighter, and he has studied in many |
---|
23 | 23 | | specialties, including weapons of mass destruction and high rise |
---|
24 | 24 | | operations; moreover, he is a certified hazardous materials |
---|
25 | 25 | | emergency response technician and an EMT-paramedic, and he has |
---|
26 | 26 | | earned certification in such areas as pediatric advanced life |
---|
27 | 27 | | support and head trauma emergencies; additionally, he has served as |
---|
28 | 28 | | a guest instructor at the Texas A&M University International |
---|
29 | 29 | | Hispanic Fire Academy; he holds an associate's degree in business |
---|
30 | 30 | | management; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, For more than two decades, Juan Olivares has worked |
---|
32 | 32 | | to protect the lives and property of area citizens as a member of |
---|
33 | 33 | | the Eagle Pass Fire Department, and he is truly deserving of special |
---|
34 | 34 | | recognition; now, therefore, be it |
---|
35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
36 | 36 | | Legislature hereby commend firefighter and paramedic Juan Olivares |
---|
37 | 37 | | for his exemplary service to the community of Eagle Pass and extend |
---|
38 | 38 | | to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
---|
39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
---|
40 | 40 | | prepared for Mr. Olivares as an expression of high regard by the |
