H.R. No. 2497
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Sharing a deep bond of love that has spanned half a
century, Gustavo and Lucy Rodriguez celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary on March 25, 2023; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Rodriguez first met as teenagers on the
plaza in Piedras Negras, Mexico, and in 1973, they exchanged the
vows of matrimony at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, next to
the plaza where they had met a year earlier; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed couple count among their blessings a
fine family that includes three children, Claudia, Gustavo, and
Brenda, as well as eight grandchildren, Idalis, Raulito, Nayeli,
Gustavo, Abigail, Gabriela, Victor, and Laila, and a
great-grandchild, Sarahi; and
WHEREAS, Looking back over the past 50 years, Gustavo and
Lucy Rodriguez can savor a wealth of cherished family memories and
know that the strength of their love and commitment ensures that
many more joyful times await them; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Gustavo and Lucy Rodriguez on their
50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the couple as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
