| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | passing of Nancy Ann Smith Williams of Temple on January 6, 2023, at |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the age of 89; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The former Nancy Smith was born to Edward and Stella |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Smith in Marshall on November 8, 1933, and she grew up with three |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | older siblings, Arthur, Bobby, and Julia Martha; on December 18, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 1955, she married her junior high school sweetheart, David Lewis |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Williams, with whom she shared a fulfilling union that spanned 54 |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | years until his passing in 2010; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Williams enjoyed a rewarding career as a legal |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | secretary with the Harrison County district attorney, and in 1985 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | she became a federal court clerk; active in her community, she gave |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | generously of her time and talents to such organizations as March of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Dimes, the Harrison County MHMR Sheltered Workshop, Camp Fire |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Girls, and Boy Scouts; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, This beloved woman was a devoted mother to 5 |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | children, Tommy, Kay, Danny, Laura, and Edward, and with the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | passing years, she had the pleasure of seeing her family grow to |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | include 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Although Nancy Williams will be greatly missed, she |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | has left her family with a wealth of treasured memories, and they |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | will always hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Nancy Ann Smith |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Williams and extend sincere condolences to the members of her |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | family: to her children, Tommy Williams and his wife, Marsha, Kay |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Lynch and her husband, Mike, Danny Williams and his wife, Margaret, |
