5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of |

6 | 6 | | Benita T. Martinez of San Diego, Texas, who passed away on |
---|
7 | 7 | | March 12, 2022, at the age of 90; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Francisco Trigo Sr. and Gettudes |
---|
9 | 9 | | Valerio Trigo, the former Benita Trigo was born on April 3, 1931; |
---|
10 | 10 | | she married Alejandro L. "Cano" Martinez, and they were blessed |
---|
11 | 11 | | with 14 children, Jose "Chemita," Alejandro, Francisco, Albert, |
---|
12 | 12 | | Humberto, Roberto, Gilberto, Bertha, Sylvia, Dora, Dalia, Sandra, |
---|
13 | 13 | | Donna, and Diana; through the years, Mrs. Martinez experienced the |
---|
14 | 14 | | joy of welcoming numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren |
---|
15 | 15 | | into her treasured family; and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Martinez were employed as migrant |
---|
17 | 17 | | workers in the late 1960s, and she lovingly guided her sons and |
---|
18 | 18 | | daughters as they traveled to fields in northern states; determined |
---|
19 | 19 | | to further her education, she eventually returned to school to earn |
---|
20 | 20 | | her GED and associate degree; she served as a teacher's aide in the |
---|
21 | 21 | | San Diego Independent School District before going on to work for |
---|
22 | 22 | | the Duval County 229th District Court Juvenile Department for more |
---|
23 | 23 | | than two decades; dedicated to her community, she volunteered at |
---|
24 | 24 | | the senior civic center; she enjoyed playing and singing as a member |
---|
25 | 25 | | of the Guadalupana Mariachi and the St. Francis de Paula Catholic |
---|
26 | 26 | | Church Choir; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Benita Martinez lived a full and generous life |
---|
28 | 28 | | surrounded by those she loved, and they will forever carry her close |
---|
29 | 29 | | in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
---|
30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Benita T. Martinez |
---|
32 | 32 | | and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her |
---|
33 | 33 | | children, Alejandro Martinez Jr. and his wife, Sylvia, Francisco |
