| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt at |

| 6 | 6 | | the loss of Travis Garcia of Pleasanton, a gifted young athlete |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | whose life was tragically cut short on March 15, 2022, at the age of |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 19; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of Eric Garcia and Abby Rains, Travis Garcia |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | was a superb golfer with a promising future ahead of him; he was a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | graduate of Pleasanton High School, where he helped the Eagle golf |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | team advance to state in 2021, and he was twice named PHS Most |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Valuable Player; at the time of his death, he was continuing to |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | compete in the sport while working toward a criminal justice degree |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | at the University of the Southwest in Hobbs, New Mexico; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, As he pursued his dream of becoming a professional |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | golfer, Mr. Garcia impressed others with his strong work ethic and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | his determination to succeed; he was well-liked and widely admired |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | in his close-knit community, where his untimely passing inspired a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | tremendous outpouring of prayers and sympathy; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Possessed of a warm smile, a caring and generous |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | nature, and an unfailingly positive attitude, Travis Garcia |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | brightened the world for those who were fortunate enough to know |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | him, and they will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Travis Garcia and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it |
