H.R. No. 2547
R E S O L U T I O N
BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th
Legislature of the State of Texas hereby create a Board of Managers
to present to the Texas Senate articles of impeachment preferred by
the house against Warren Kenneth Paxton Jr.; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Board of Managers be composed of 12
members of the house to be appointed by the speaker of the house and
that the speaker shall also designate the chair and vice chair of
the board; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That for purposes of the house rules of procedure,
and except as otherwise provided by this resolution, the Board of
Managers shall be treated in the same manner as the Committee on
Redistricting; the board is authorized to meet without regard to
the notice provisions in the house rules of procedure, to meet in
executive session for any quasi-judicial purpose, including
preparing for the exhibition of articles of impeachment, without
regard to the house rules of procedure, to employ counsel and other
staff, and to utilize the services of other members of the house
when needed to assist in the discharge of the board's duties; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That the members of the Board of Managers and any
other members of the house providing assistance to the board are
entitled to a per diem as provided by Section 665.006, Government
Code, for a member of a house committee meeting for an impeachment
proceeding; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the chair of the Board of Managers may cause to
be issued and enforced any process necessary for the proper
dispatch of the board's work, that the board be granted the
investigatory powers of a general investigating committee under the
house rules of procedure and Chapter 301, Government Code, and that
the board is granted all powers granted to committees by the house
rules of procedure and Chapters 301 and 665, Government Code; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That the Board of Managers shall present the
articles of impeachment to the senate for purposes of Section
665.022, Government Code, by delivering to the senate a certified
copy of enrolled House Resolution 2377 preferring the articles of
impeachment.
