44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
66 passing of Clifford Anne Bigby Cozart of Fort Worth on December 2,
77 2022, at the age of 90; and
88 WHEREAS, A native of Fort Worth, Anne Cozart was born on
99 November 28, 1932, to Annie Farmer Bigby and Walter Clifford Bigby,
1010 and she grew up with the companionship of two sisters, Mary Lynne
1111 and Priscilla; after her graduation from North Side High School,
1212 she attended North Texas State University and received a degree in
1313 education; she would later earn a master's degree from Texas
1414 Christian University; and
1515 WHEREAS, Mrs. Cozart began her teaching career at Denver
1616 Avenue Elementary School, where she served for more than four
1717 decades; throughout her tenure, she taught every elementary grade
1818 level, as well as pre-K English as a Second Language classes; she
1919 became the first female Castleberry ISD School Board member, a
2020 position she held for 21 years, and she also served on the Texas
2121 Association of School Boards; and
2222 WHEREAS, After retiring from education, Mrs. Cozart
2323 continued to serve the community as the district director for State
2424 Representative Charlie Geren; additionally, she was a member of the
2525 Northwest Tarrant, Saginaw Area, and Texas Tri-County Chambers of
2626 Commerce; moreover, she worked to ensure the placement of smoke
2727 alarms in area homes, earning her recognition as the Civilian Fire
2828 Fighter of the Year; and
2929 WHEREAS, Mrs. Cozart enjoyed many hobbies in her leisure
3030 time, including gardening and flying airplanes; she was a proud
3131 member of the Ninety-Nines, and she served on the Fort Worth
3232 Aviation Advisory Board; a woman of faith, she was a devoted
3333 congregant of River Oaks Baptist Church; in all her endeavors, she
3434 enjoyed the love and support of her husband, Gene, with whom she
3535 shared 66 years of marriage before his passing in 2019; she took
3636 great pride in her three daughters, Genie, Deanna, and Angie, and
3737 over the years, she had the pleasure of seeing her family grow to
3838 include five grandchildren, Heath, Mitzi, Chris, Brandon, and
3939 Brade; and
4040 WHEREAS, Although she will be deeply missed, the passage of
4141 time will never diminish the joy and love that Anne Cozart brought
4242 into the lives of all who knew her; now, therefore, be it
4343 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
4444 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Clifford Anne Bigby
4545 Cozart and extend deepest condolences to her loved ones; and, be it
4646 further
4747 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4848 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4949 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Anne
5050 Cozart.
