| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Members of the Wholesale Beer Distributors of Texas |

| 6 | 6 | | are gathering in Austin on February 21, 2023, to celebrate |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Wholesale Beer Distributors of Texas Day at the State Capitol; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Formed in 1939, the association held its first |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | meeting in Galveston one year later; members appreciated that they |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | shared many mutual concerns, and they committed to working together |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | for the benefit of the industry as a whole; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Membership in WBDT today includes the majority of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the state's family-owned licensed beer distributorships; the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | organization advocates for businesses and also focuses on consumer |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | protection, product integrity, and the availability of choices in |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the marketplace; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Since the early days of the association, members |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | have encouraged each other to engage in civic life for the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | betterment of their communities; notable activities have ranged |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | from establishing one of the state's first anti-litter programs to |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | sponsoring Little League teams, supporting the arts, and promoting |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | local chambers of commerce; in recent years, WBDT members have |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | joined the state's campaign to prevent human trafficking, training |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | employees in ways to identify and report suspected instances of the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | crime; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, The Wholesale Beer Distributors of Texas has |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | diligently served its members for well over eight decades, and its |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | efforts have allowed these companies to make an even greater |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | contribution to the continued prosperity of the Lone Star State; |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby recognize February 21, 2023, as Wholesale Beer |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Distributors of Texas Day at the State Capitol and extend a warm |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | welcome to the visiting members of the association. |
