| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Central Catholic High School in San Antonio is |

| 6 | 6 | | hosting its 10th annual Central Catholic Gala on February 25, 2023; |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1852, Central Catholic High School is |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the oldest boys' school in San Antonio; the college preparatory |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | institution serves more than 510 students from diverse backgrounds |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | and offers a learning environment focused around the Marianist |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | tradition of success through scholarship, leadership, and moral |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | character; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The school has changed locations a number of times, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and it moved into its current building in 1932; an additional floor |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | was added to the facility in 1942, and between the 1970s and the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | 1990s, a band hall and football and track stadium were constructed; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | in 2013, the Michael David Elizondo Library and Resource Center was |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | completed, and in 2019, the school opened the Kahlig-Cowie |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Convocation Center & Mother Adele Chapel, which houses a basketball |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | gym, locker rooms, a weight room, and a wellness and rehabilitation |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | center, as well as a chapel; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Each year, Central Catholic High School holds a |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | fundraising gala, and since its inception, the event has garnered |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | nearly $3 million to help further the school's mission; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, For 171 years, Central Catholic High School has |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | provided its students with a strong foundation on which to build and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | has contributed to the vitality of the San Antonio community, and it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | is a pleasure to join in recognizing the school on this special |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | occasion; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 10th annual Central Catholic |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | High School Gala and extend to the school's alumni, students, and |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | administrators sincere best wishes for a successful and memorable |
|---|
