| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Cheryl Jackson has made a meaningful difference |

| 6 | 6 | | in the lives of countless individuals through her work as founder of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Minnie's Food Pantry in Plano; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Jackson established Minnie's Food Pantry on |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | April 1, 2008, and named the organization after her mother, the late |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Dr. Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing, who shared her commitment to community |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | service; under Dr. Jackson's guidance, Minnie's Food Pantry has |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | provided more than 21 million healthy meals to families in need, and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | its success over the past 15 years has led to its expansion to 12 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | locations in Texas, as well as to New York and Pennsylvania; today, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | it is one of the largest food pantries in North Texas, and it holds a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | platinum rating from GuideStar, the highest level of recognition |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | awarded by the charity evaluating service; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, In addition to overseeing Minnie's Food Pantry, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Dr. Jackson has given back to her community through her involvement |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | in the Plano Chamber of Commerce, which named her president of its |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Women's Division in 2021; she has received numerous honors from |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | local organizations, including McKinney ISD's SEAS Initiative |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Difference Maker Award in 2022; she has also garnered praise from |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | national media outlets like HuffPost and Good Morning America, and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | she has made frequent appearances as a keynote speaker to raise |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | awareness of hunger in America; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Cheryl Jackson has set an inspiring example of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | the good that one caring individual can accomplish, and it is a |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | pleasure to join in commending this truly remarkable Texan; now, |

| 30 | 30 | | therefore, be it |

| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
