5	5	WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants
6	6	are gathering in Austin for Texas Physician Assistant Day at the
7	7	State Capitol on February 21, 2023; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Established in 1975, the Texas Academy of Physician
9	9	Assistants represents more than 2,500 physician assistants and
10	10	students throughout the state; the organization aims to improve the
11	11	health of all Texans by supporting PAs through professional
12	12	development, education, representation, and legislative advocacy;
13	13	and
14	14	WHEREAS, Physician assistants are highly educated and
15	15	qualified medical professionals who are licensed to diagnose
16	16	illness, develop and manage treatment plans, and serve as a
17	17	patient's principal health care provider; employed in doctors'
18	18	offices, hospitals, and clinics, PAs are often the first point of
19	19	contact for patients, and they play an important role in helping
20	20	them understand their health care needs and empowering them to be
21	21	effective advocates for their own health; and
22	22	WHEREAS, Because of their advanced education in medicine, PAs
23	23	are valuable assets to the medical teams on which they serve, and
24	24	they are instrumental in enhancing the availability of high-quality
25	25	health care, particularly in rural and other medically underserved
26	26	areas; and
27	27	WHEREAS, Through their vital work on the front lines of
28	28	patient care, physician assistants contribute to the well-being and
29	29	quality of life of countless Texans, and they are deserving of their
30	30	fellow citizens' deep respect and appreciation; now, therefore, be
31	31	it
32	32	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
33	33	Legislature hereby recognize February 21, 2023, as Texas Physician
34	34	Assistant Day at the State Capitol and commend the Texas Academy of
35	35	Physician Assistants for its efforts to advance the practice of
36	36	this important profession in our state; and, be it further
37	37	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
38	38	prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
39	39	Texas House of Representatives.
