| 7 | 7 | | opportunity to recognize this notable institution; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, One of the largest universities in the state, UNT |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | posted a record-breaking enrollment for the fourth consecutive year |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | in the fall 2022 semester, with more than 44,500 students working |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | toward degrees; the school's increasing enrollment continues to |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | magnify its impact in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where it |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | contributes an estimated $1.65 billion to the economy annually; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, UNT offers a wide range of innovative, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | internationally ranked programs that not only foster students' |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | academic and intellectual development but also offer leadership and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | service opportunities; its faculty members conduct groundbreaking |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | research in such areas as plant science, materials science and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | engineering, and logistics, which spurs innovation and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | technological advancement in a thriving business corridor; many of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | the school's more than 476,000 alumni have gone on to distinguish |

| 22 | 22 | | themselves in their fields of endeavor, and graduates of the UNT |

| 23 | 23 | | College of Music, which is recognized as one of the nation's best, |

| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, In recognition of its research programs and their |

| 27 | 27 | | impact, UNT has been awarded the R1 classification, the highest |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | rank given to research universities by the Carnegie Classifications |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | of Institutions of Higher Education; the university has also been |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | designated as a Minority Serving Institution, as well as a Hispanic |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Serving Institution by the U.S. Department of Education; committed |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | to providing high-quality, affordable higher education |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | opportunities, UNT has kept the cost of tuition flat for more than |

| 34 | 34 | | five years and taken measures to reduce student debt and to shorten |
