| 9 | 10 | | is the ninth-largest economy in the world, Texas ports play an |

| 10 | 11 | | integral role in the international supply chain; the system boasts |

| 11 | 12 | | the largest container port on the Gulf Coast, the largest breakbulk |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | gateway in the U.S., the leading energy export gateway in the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | nation, and the largest port in the country in total revenue |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | tonnage; ranked second in the U.S. in waterborne commerce, Texas |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | ports handle 616.2 million tons of foreign and domestic cargo, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | generate $449.6 billion of total economic value for the state, and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | impact more than 1.8 million jobs; a recent Global Trade article |

| 18 | 19 | | lauded the state with the greatest cluster of power ports among the |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | top 20 list; moreover, three Texas ports are designated as |

| 20 | 21 | | strategic military ports by the U.S. Department of Defense, |

| 21 | 22 | | providing surface deployment and worldwide distribution for |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Ports Association is an alliance of more |

| 24 | 25 | | than 20 maritime ports along the Gulf Coast, and it represents a |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | number of import and export industries; the organization advocates |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | for infrastructure projects that will help supply chain |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | constraints, enhance port efficiency, improve the movement of |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | freight through intermodal systems, create new jobs, and attract |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | private investment; and |

| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, TPA greatly benefits from the leadership of its |

| 31 | 32 | | executive director and CEO Glenna K. Bruun as well as its president |

| 32 | 33 | | Phyllis Saathoff, vice president Victor Martinez, and |

| 33 | 34 | | secretary/treasurer Nelda Olivo; and |

| 34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Texas ports contribute tremendously to the economic |
