H.R. No. 288 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Eliza Hoffman of the Clear Creek Independent School District achieved great distinction by winning reserve grand champion honors in the School Art Program at the 2023 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo; and WHEREAS, Talented young artists from across the Lone Star State were recognized during the rodeo's School Art Program Awards Ceremony on February 11 at the NRG Center; approximately 200,000 students representing 105 public school districts and 59 private schools took part in the 2023 program, and nearly 4,000 pieces of artwork were submitted for preliminary judging; from those, 809 selections advanced to the next round, where 72 students were selected to participate in the School Art Auction on March 12; and WHEREAS, A junior at Clear Springs High School, Ms. Hoffman received reserve grand champion designation for her artwork titled Morning Dove, a painting that took her some 250 hours to complete; she has enjoyed previous success in art competition at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, garnering intermediate best of show honors as a seventh grader and going on to represent Clear Creek ISD in the event on other occasions; and WHEREAS, Eliza Hoffman is a source of great pride to her school and her community, and she is indeed deserving of special recognition for this exceptional accomplishment; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Eliza Hoffman on winning reserve grand champion honors in the School Art Program at the 2023 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Hoffman as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
