55 WHEREAS, Civic-minded women from across the Lone Star State
66 are gathering in Austin on February 2, 2023, to celebrate Texas
77 Federation of Republican Women Day at the State Capitol; and
88 WHEREAS, The Texas Federation of Republican Women was
99 established in San Antonio in October 1955; with more than 300
1010 delegates present, the organizing convention was led by
1111 Mrs. Malcolm Milburn, and it resulted in the election of
1212 Mrs. R. D. O'Callaghan as the first president; in the nearly seven
1313 decades since its inception, the organization has grown into one of
1414 the largest women's political groups in the country; and
1515 WHEREAS, With the goals of educating the electorate,
1616 encouraging women to run for office, and electing Republican
1717 candidates, TFRW issues informative communications and works
1818 closely with other Republican organizations to train volunteers and
1919 provide support for local and statewide campaigns through voter
2020 registration and outreach activities, political rallies, forums,
2121 and legislative day events; and
2222 WHEREAS, This notable organization embodies a spirit of
2323 public engagement, and its members may reflect with great pride on
2424 the exemplary model of citizenship they have set for their fellow
2525 Texans; now, therefore, be it
2626 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2727 Legislature hereby recognize February 2, 2023, as Texas Federation
2828 of Republican Women Day at the State Capitol and extend a warm
2929 welcome to the members of the organization who are visiting on this
3030 day.
