| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Petra Deeter has made a positive impact in many |

| 6 | 6 | | lives as the founder of the Victim to Hero Institute; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, A survivor of child abuse and domestic violence, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Dr. Deeter established the institute to empower other victims and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | survivors of trauma and psychological abuse; in addition, the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | organization advocates for legal reforms to address these issues; |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, The institute provides trauma-informed education, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | resources, and support programs; moreover, it works to raise |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | awareness of topics such as parental alienation, which involves |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | behaviors often found in high-conflict divorce and custody |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | situations; these can include speaking negatively about a parent to |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | a child or in their presence, interfering with communication and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | visitation, and discussing inappropriate information to damage the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | parent-child bond; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, To advance understanding of dysfunctional family |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | dynamics, the institute conducts extensive research; it has |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | interviewed hundreds of parents and adult children who are |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | survivors of family dysfunction; all team members have experienced |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | these issues themselves and bring sincere empathy to their efforts; |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Petra Deeter has demonstrated an exceptional |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | commitment to helping victims of parental alienation and unhealed |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | childhood trauma, and it is indeed a pleasure to acknowledge her |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | endeavors; now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby honor Petra Deeter for her contributions as |
